Police Conduct Joint Traffic Enforcement
May 19, 2020 -- Bartlett Police Department continues to be committed to keeping the community and Village roadways safe during the COVID-19 pandemic. As excessive speeding and reckless driving have become prevalent throughout the country due to fewer vehicles on the roadways, the police department also has noticed an increase in speed violations on U.S. Route 20 and Illinois Route 59.
Bartlett Police will partner with the Elgin, Hanover Park and Streamwood Police Departments and the Illinois State Police to conduct joint traffic enforcement and ensure the public can travel safely on these and other roadways. Through education and enforcement efforts, this traffic safety initiative will focus on unsafe and dangerous driving behavior including speeding, driving under the influence, disobeying traffic control signals, distracted driving and reckless driving.
Everyone's cooperation is needed. Drivers are encouraged to drive responsibly and avoid taking part in dangerous driving behaviors, which often lead to serious traffic crashes involving injuries and fatalities. Please obey the posted speed limit, always wear your seat belt, and avoid all distractions while you drive.
