Police Department Dedicates Training Room to former Administrator
The Village of Bartlett appreciated the opportunity on Friday, 6/14, to honor its former Village Administrator with the dedication of the Valerie L. Salmons Training Room in the new police facility. Salmons was a long-time proponent of the Police Department and its commitment to high training and safety standards.
In 1990, while serving as Bartlett's administrator, Salmons was appointed as the first female member of the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board. This appointment went hand-in-hand with the high bar she set locally for public safety programs, such as helping the Bartlett Police Department implement a canine unit, placing a liaison officer at Bartlett High School, and seeing the police department awarded with its first Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) accreditation in 1997.
