Bartlett is Now Pumping Lake Michigan Water
May 17, 2019 Update - The Village of Bartlett is officially pumping Lake Michigan water. It will take several days for the system to be 100% Lake Michigan water.
During the next few days, as the water in the storage tanks turns over and the supply is “stirred up," residents may notice some cloudiness to the water. However the water is safe to cook with and drink. Public Works will flush some hydrants in those areas where discoloration occurs to clear things up.
Please know that even if the new water tastes or smells different than it did previously, that does not mean there is a problem with the water. Below is a link to the City of Chicago Comprehensive Water Quality Analysis, which reports on the quality and safety of Bartlett's new water supply.
You may also be wondering about what do with your water softener or other home water treatment units. You are now receiving a softer, higher quality water, so the best answer is to turn off all your in-house devices for a month and see how you like the water. This will help you make your own informed decision.
